Chiropractic Care

Aches and pains are signs that your body isn’t working right. Your brain, spinal cord and all your nerves control how your body works. Physical, chemical or emotional stressors produce a defensive posture. Muscles contract, locking spinal joints that pinch or irritate nearby nerves. Lack of nervous system integrity sets the stage for disease and ill health.

A thorough examination helps chiropractors find these vertebral subluxations. Applying a precise force to stuck spinal joints helps the body correct itself. Health usually returns as repeated visits restore nervous system integrity. That’s why chiropractic care has helped millions get well and stay well.

By examining the nervous system and spine and receiving chiropractic adjustments, you can boost your body’s ability to perform at optimal levels and your body will be better able to adapt to various environments.

Adjusting woman's back

The Adjustment. What Is It?

The adjustment is a natural, non-invasive, safe procedure used by the chiropractor to restore and improve health. Learning the art of adjusting is a skill that requires years of study and practice.

Chiropractic doctors are the only health care professionals trained to deliver the chiropractic adjustment. Spinal adjustments by any other individual or health care professional have been shown to be potentially dangerous and less effective.

The spinal adjustment refers to the process in which the doctor of chiropractic skillfully applies controlled force into one or more spinal subluxations. The adjustment is also frequently used in the pelvic region to normalize sacroiliac joints.

Subluxation is the most important word in Chiropractic.

A Subluxation is self-perpetuating central segmental motor control problem that involves a joint, such as a vertebral motion segment, that is not moving appropriately, resulting in ongoing maladaptive neural plastic changes that interfere with the central nervous system’s ability to self-regulate, adapt, repair and heal.

Subluxations are caused by the accumulation of the ‘3 T’s': Toxins (chemical stress), Traumas (physical stress) and Thoughts (emotional stress). Most health experts agree that many cases of ill health and disease can be traced back to stress.

Chiropractic adjustments help correct spinal subluxations. The result is a reduction in pain and muscle spasm, inflammation, muscle imbalance and most importantly restoring the body’s ability to selfheal and self-regulate. Disc herniations are often caused by Spinal subluxations. Our office is very successful in helping with spinal disc herniation correction.

Chiropractic adjustments are the only method of eliminating spinal subluxations and only a chiropractor is trained to detect subluxations.

A word on extremity adjusting…

Dr Eric Delorme is highly trained in extremity adjusting. Joints of the hand and feet, wrists and ankles, elbows and knees, shoulders and hips, ribs and the jaw.

Joints can also become subluxated. Adjustments may restore and enhance joint function resulting in a decrease in degenerative (arthritic) patterns, increased proprioception (joint position sense) and nociception (pain). This is of special interest to athletes, who generally demand optimal joint performance from highly stressed joints.

The elderly in our practice greatly benefit from these adjustments. They optimize their mobility which is so important for their wellbeing and even mental health.
